I raised my brows at him. "Really? Alliyah is pregnant?"
"No, but I want her to be."
"Why?" I inquired.
"I want her to have a better experience with motherhood. This time she won't be alone, she'll have me. I'll never leave her side." He smiled.
"That's good and I'll never leave Kalliyah's side either. That's if she'll have me." I paused and took a deep breath. " What if she remembers and chooses not to forgive me."
Santiago walked closer to me and took a seat next to me. He shared a glass of whisky for himself then he took a sip and turn to me. He points the whiskey to me. "You see this whiskey. It's strong, very strong. It is as strong as the love you have for Kalliyah. Whiskey even when mixed with water is strong that's how much you love her. The water is the barrier that is between the two of you. Don't let the water take over. Stop worrying about what hasn't come as yet. She has a memory loss, she has time to adjust to the new you or should I say the changed you. I told you this before. It's not a time for you to weep about your mistakes, it a time to make them better. That's what I told Alliyah and that's why we're here to make amends."
He took a sip and smiled. "Let me tell you something. Alliyah she didn't like me, I was the annoying neighbour always borrowing sugar, which of course I never paid back and I didn't really want the sugar. I just wanted to see her but she kept pushing me away but I paid her no mind. My mind was set. I was going to make her fall for me." He laughed, "We're going to get married in a couple of months. No matter what comes in the way, show her how much you value and love her, mate. Kill her with love."
Santiago had a way of calming people down, making them feel better with words and action. I can't tell how he does it, but it's worked on me a few times.
"Enough about me. When are planning on going back to Florida?"
"I haven't set a date as yet since Alliyah wants to spend her time with sister. I'm not in any hurry either. My brothers can manage the business while I'm gone."
I nod understanding, "What about Ally, doesn't she work?" I was trying to get rid of them, I just wanted to make sure they weren't sacrificing anything to be here.
"No, she quit her job when she found out she was pregnant with Henrique and I really don't want my future wife to show off her body to anyone but me so, No, she doesn't have a job. I'm happy if she just stays home and take care of our football team that we'll be having." I laughed at his statement.
"Isn't nine kids too much?"
"My family is known to have up to 12, I'm just settling for a little less. Don't think I can take the stress that comes with twelve kids." I laughed at him.
"But, that's just three less."
"Three too many." He smiled.
"Where is that future wife of yours by the way?"
"She was tired so I made sure she went to bed early."
I wiggled my eyebrows. "I wonder what made her so tired."
He pushed my shoulders playfully. "No, chico, we are coming from the hospital. We didn't have enough time."
"It can even take five minutes." I teased.
"It takes me at least an hour to get started." he blushed, £Can we stop now,"
"Oh, you're blushing." I pinched his cheeks and he hit my hands off.
"I wonder about you. Why are most American so touchy?"
"Says the man who hugs someone every time he greets them and FYI Americans are only touchy with friends."
He smiled, "I'm glad we are friends, soon we'll be brothers."
I hesitated before replying, "If Kalliyah forgives me, yes."
He placed his hands on my shoulder, "Don't worry. I'm sure Kalliyah loves you very much. She'll forgive you."
"I treated her horribly."
"If she's anything like her sister, she'll forgive you."
"That's the thing, Kalliyah is nothing like Alliyah. She's said so herself many times."
"I say that about my brothers and I too but I know that deep down we are very much alike. Have faith, Hermano. Everything will work out okay."
I looked at the glass in my hands and consider his words wisely. Kalliyah is a forgiving person. When we first met, I wasn't the nicest person to her and she gave me. Why wouldn't she forgive me now?
Because you didn't trust her.

I looked down at our enlaced hands and smile. I couldn't help but admire her beauty, but her eyes were on the ice-cream menu which laid on the wall. We were standing in a line at Dairy Queen, I knew I could just flash my ID and we'd be out in no time but Santiago gave me some advice on what to do and what not to do. He said it was romantic to wait slowly for the ice-cream in line, it showed patience. It also showed that I don't use my status to get everything I need. I had to make a good impression on Kally.
I was so caught up in her beauty that I didn't know she was talking to me until she started waving her hands in front of my eyes.
"What?" I grimace.
"You weren't listening, were you? You were staring at me." she pushed out her lips trying to be angry.
I smiled. "Of course I was staring. I'm looking at the most beautiful woman on earth."
She smiled and hide her blushing cheeks. "Have you met all the women in the world?"
I rolled my eyes at her. "Why didn't you just accept my compliment?"
